It can stand two stories tall and last up to 80 years. Ensete ventricosum, commonly known as the Ethiopian banana, Abyssinian banana, false banana, or ensete, is an herbaceous species of flowering plant in the genus Ensete of the banana family Musaceae. The Dorze numbered 40'000 reside in villages near the cities of Chencha and Arba Minch.
