The ritual "Royal Bath" is timed to match an auspicious planetary alignment, when believers say spiritual energy flows to earth. Shining Bindi, orange flowers, plastic decorations and plastic waste are floating on the Ganges' river. Indian hindu devotess have offered Shining Bindi to Mother Ganges, considered a deity and also a Lady. A bindi (meaning "a drop, small particle, dot") is a forehead decoration worn by married women in India. Traditionally it is a bright dot of red color applied in the center of the forehead close to the eyebrows. The Kumbh Mela, believed to be the largest religious gathering is held every 12 years on the banks of the 'Sangam'- the confluence of the holy rivers Ganga, Yamuna and the mythical Saraswati. The Maha (great) Kumbh Mela, which comes after 12 Purna Kumbh Mela, or 144 years, is always held at Allahabad.
