India. Uttar Pradesh state. Allahabad. Maha Kumbh Mela. A book to write the name of Lord Rama is floating on the river Ganges at Sangam. A person has filled the book with the name of Ram, once completed the book is plunged into the river as a blessing and a worship to the deities. Ram is the seventh avatar of the god Vishnu in Hinduism. The Kumbh Mela, believed to be the largest religious gathering is held every 12 years on the banks of the 'Sangam'- the confluence of the holy rivers Ganga, Yamuna and the mythical Saraswati. The Maha (great) Kumbh Mela, which comes after 12 Purna Kumbh Mela, or 144 years, is always held at Allahabad.
