According to Christian teaching she conceived Jesus while a virgin, through the Holy Spirit. Mary has been venerated since early Christianity, The Catholic Church holds distinctive Marian dogmas, namely her status as the Mother of God, her Immaculate Conception, her perpetual virginity, and her Assumption into heaven. Padre Pio, also known as Saint Pio of Pietrelcina (Italian: Pio da Pietrelcina), (May 25, 1887 – September 23, 1968), was a friar, priest, stigmatist, and mystic, now venerated as a saint of the Catholic church. Locorotondo is a town and comune with a population of about 14,000. The city is known for its circular structure which is now a historical center, from which derives its name, which means "Round place".
