Padre Pio, also known as Saint Pio of Pietrelcina (Italian: Pio da Pietrelcina), (May 25, 1887 – September 23, 1968), was a friar, priest, stigmatist, and mystic, now venerated as a saint of the Catholic church. Locorotondo is a town and comune with a population of about 14,000. The city is known for its circular structure which is now a historical center, from which derives its name, which means "Round place".
