Jordan. Petra.The archeological site is part of the UNESCO world heritage project.  The Nabataeans were an arabian industrious tribe which settled down in southern Jordan 2000 years ago.  Petra is located at the bottom of a spectacular deep gorge surrounded by mountains. " Al-Dayr" monastery. Its high façade is carved in the rocks. Bedouins women climb the rocks just above the monastery. Both wear long dresses and a veil on their head as part of muslim tradition and religion. © 2002 Didier Ruef
