Italy. South Tyrol. Reschensee (Lago di Resia, Lake Reschen) is an artificial lake in the western portion of South Tyrol. The lake is famous for the steeple of Graun's submerged 14th-century church. Today all that's visible above the waterline is the campanile, or bell tower, of Graun's church tower. The bells were removed from the tower on July 18, 1950, a week before the demolition of the church nave and the creation of the lake. Lake Reschen a capacity of 120 million cubic metres and its surface area of 6.6 km² makes it also the largest lake above 1,000 m in the Alps. 21.11.2017© 2017 Didier Ruef
