Senegal. Goree Island, 3 km off the coast of the city of Dakar, memorialises the final exit point of the slaves from Africa. The monument commemorating the liberation from slavery was offered in 2002 by Guadeloupe, an overseas department and region of France in the Caribbean. The sculpture was created by artists Jean and Christian Moisa.
