Alexander Calder (July 22, 1898 - November 11, 1976), also known as Sandy Calder, was an American sculptor and artist most famous for inventing the mobile. The permanent collection of the museum was opened on September 10th 1992. What had before only been host to temporary exhibitions is now a true museum, with the task of looking after, increasing and exhibiting its artistic collection of modern and contemporary art, and favour the social communication of the plastic arts. © 2007  Didier Ruef
