Switzerland. Canton Bern. Interlaken. Unspunnenfest is a festival held in the town of Interlaken, approximately once every twelve years. The festival highlights traditional Swiss culture. A group of men dressed with traditional costumes play alphorns. An elderly man walks alone on the meadow. A Latin Christian cross and a small stage, used for speech, with a swiss flag. The Christian cross, with or without a figure of Christ included, is the main religious symbol of Christianity. The alphorn or alpenhorn or alpine horn is a labrophone, consisting of a wooden natural horn of conical bore, having a wooden cup-shaped mouthpiece, used by mountain dwellers in the Swiss Alps. The flag of Switzerland consists of a red flag with a white cross (a bold, equilateral cross) in the centre. It is one of only two square sovereign-state flags. 1.09.1993 © 1993 Didier Ruef
