Switzerland. Geneva. Paquis neighborhood. A police officer holds the head of a wounded pregant woman seated on the driver's seat in a car accident on the Chantepoulet street. Firefighters with helmets and yellow protective clothing work on a vehicle extrication, which is the process of removing a vehicle from around a person who has been involved in a motor vehicle accident, when conventional means of exit are impossible or inadvisable. A delicate approach is needed to minimize injury to the victim during the extrication. This operation is typically accomplished by using hydraulic tools, such as a cutter. The cutter is a hydraulic tool which is designed to cut through metal - a hydraulically powered shears. It is often called a crab-cutter, owing to the shape and configuration of its blades. Sometimes specified as to its capacity to cut a solid circular steel bar, these are most commonly used to cut through a vehicle's structure in an extraction operation. Cutter blades are replaceable, and blade development progresses as vehicle technology progresses in order to be able to cope with the new car protection technology.21.03.12 © 2012 Didier Ruef..
