Switzerland. Canton Ticino. Montagnola. Alberto Bianchi (dressed in white) is a beekeeper and an organic farmer (with the label Bio Suisse). He stands in the woods (Robinia pseudoacacia) with his assistant Joao from Portugal. Alberto Bianchi uses a blower to remove bees from honeycombs before collecting them and the wooden box in order to bring them back to the place where he produces honey. The men are standing on a meadow surronded by the woods (Robinia pseudoacacia). Beekeeping (or apiculture) is the maintenance of honey bee colonies, commonly in hives, by humans. A beekeeper (or apiarist) keeps bees in order to collect honey and other products of the hive (including beeswax, propolis, pollen, and royal jelly). Robinia pseudoacacia, commonly known as the Black Locust, is a tree in the subfamily Faboideae of the pea family Fabaceae. A less frequently used common name is False Acacia, which is a literal translation of the specific epithet. 31.05.12 © 2012 Didier Ruef
