Switzerland. Canton Ticino. Bellinzona. The wave of national protest in the construction industry began on October 15 in Ticino. 3000 masons from Ticino interrupted their work to meet in Bellinzona and demand that retirement be maintained at 60. In addition to retirement at 60, the fight against wage dumping and longer working hours are at the heart of the demands. Smoke bombs are lit front of the building of the Swiss Society of Builders. A smoke bomb is a firework designed to produce smoke upon ignition. Unia and OCST unions said in a joint statement that masons have had enough after a year of blocking negotiations and blackmail. The workers and their unions have therefore decided to start a national protest. If no agreements are found between workers and constructions companies, a strike might occur in the near future. 15.10.2018 © 2018 Didier Ruef
