Switzerland. Canton Ticino. Verzasca valley. Giancarlo Berri is 76 years old. He holds in his right hand an old picture of the family sawmill in the village of Vogorno before the construction of the Verzasca dam in 1965. Giancarlo Berri did his apprenticeship as a carpenter with his father in the building which was destroyed by an explosion caused by the army before the water came. The old concrete bottom of the building lies on the ground and is normally under the water. Empty reservoir of Vogorno lake. The reservoir is dried due to the first renovation works since dam’s construction. The Contra Dam, commonly known as the Verzasca Dam, is an arch dam on the Verzasca River. The dam creates the Vogorno lake, a water surface area of 1.68 km2. 29.01.22 © 2022 Didier Ruef
