USA. Louisiana. New Orleans. Orleans Parish. 9th Ward area. The 9th Ward used to be the living place of the black (afro-american) community . Aftermath of hurricane Katrina. A policeman from the New Orleans Police Department, narcotics section, empties his boots from the flooded water during a " search and rescue" operation. The police controls each house to check if there is any dead people, even if the area is empty and all its inhabitants have left the town. The people could no longer and ever live again in the houses because of the destructions due to the floods and the water. The entire area needs to be bulldozed before any new construction can be built. Pollution and contaminated land. © 2005 Didier Ruef
