The AK-47 (also known as the Kalashnikov, AK, or Kalash) is a selective-fire automatic or semi-automatic gas-operated 7.62×39mm assault rifle, developed in the Soviet Union by Mikhail Kalashnikov. A firearm is a portable gun, being a barreled weapon that launches one or more projectiles often driven by the action of an explosive force.
