After the presidential poll of december 27 2007, the turmoil has hit the Rift Valley. After Kenya's opposition Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) claims that the election was rigged in favour of President Mwai Kibaki, the post-election violence in Kenya escalated, increasingly along ethnic lines. Protests have led to some 1000 deaths nationwide and 300,000 people have fled their homes.
