Switzerland. Geneva. L’Amarr@GE is a swimming pool with a Swiss cross shape floating on the Rhône river. Two ducks and nobody in the water. L’amarr@GE was created in 2014 to mark the bicentenary of Geneva's entry into the Swiss Confederation. Shaped like the Swiss flag, the 30-metre-sq pool is built from 3000 cubes – some red, some white – to form a floating platform moored in the centre of town off Pont de la Machine. Particularly innovative is its mean of heating the water – untreated, filtered lake water is heated to a toasty 24 degrees by the thermal rejects of the air-conditioning at nearby Hôtel des Bergues, a lakeside neoclassical gem dating to 1834 and Geneva's oldest hotel. 15.03.15 © 2015 Didier Ruef
