Kenya. Rift Valley province. Nakuru. 25.01.2008. A black Kikuyu family stands under a tent at Show Ground. The father washes his feet with soap in a plastic bucket. The mother makes a laundry. The three small children are either seated or lying on a blanket on the floor. The family was able to save some personal belongings, like some bags and a metal box. They are all Internally displaced persons (IDPs), forced to flee their homes because of the inter-ethnic strifes but who, unlike refugees, remain within their country's borders. The Kikuyus are Kenya's most populous ethnic group. © 2008 Didier Ruef
