USA. Louisiana. New Orleans. Orleans Parish. 9th Ward area. The 9th Ward used to be the living place of the black (afro-american) community . Aftermath of hurricane Katrina and Rita. Cars, electric poles, trees and houses have been destroyed when the canal levee (500 meters to the left) was breached. The area was heavily flooded. It is now empty and all its inhabitants have left the town. The people could no longer and ever live again in the houses because of the destructions due to the floods and the water. The entire area needs to be bulldozed before any new construction can be built. Pollution and contaminated land. Household waste. Destruction of the urban american way of life. © 2005 Didier Ruef
