Switzerland. Canton Ticino. Barbengo. Church «San Ambrogio». Don Gerald Chukwudi Ani is a catholic priest from Nigeria (Africa). He is celebrating the baptism of two twin brothers Luca and Federico Galliani. Baptism is a Christian sacrament of admission and adoption, almost invariably with the use of water, into the Christian Church. The canonical Gospels report that Jesus was baptized—a historical event to which a high degree of certainty can be assigned. Baptism has been called a holy sacrament and an ordinance of Jesus Christ. The usual form of baptism among the earliest Christians was for the candidate to be immersed, either totally (submerged completely under the water) or partially (standing or kneeling in water while water was poured on him or her). The baptismal candle is used in the Roman Catholic. Some people may keep baptismal candles and, as the child grows, the candle is lit on the anniversary of his or her baptism or other important religious milestones and prayers of thanksgiving are said. 24.03.2018 © 2018 Didier Ruef
