Switzerland. Canton Ticino. Mezzovico. A senior man is carried seated will be brought by ambulance to the hospital for medical examinations. The elderly man is suffering from severe respiratory problems. The emergency doctor Daniele Speciale (C) with beard and glasses is working with three paramedics. They all work for the Croce Verde Lugano. They wear blue uniforms, medical gloves and surgical masks. The man (R) and the woman (R) are professional certified nurses, the bald man (L) is a volunteer specifically trained in emergency rescue. The senior citizen has a mask on his face and receives oxygen from a medical ventilator carried by the doctor. A medical ventilator (or simply ventilator in context) is a mechanical ventilator, a machine designed to move breathable air into and out of the lungs, to provide breathing for a patient who is physically unable to breathe, or breathing insufficiently. The Croce Verde Lugano is a private organization which ensure health safety by addressing different emergencies services and rescue services. Volunteering is generally considered an altruistic activity where an individual provides services for no financial or social gain to benefit another person, group or organization. Volunteering is also renowned for skill development and is often intended to promote goodness or to improve human quality of life.
