Italy. Lombardy region. Campione d'Italia. Night life. Campione d'Italia is occupying an enclave within the Swiss canton of Ticino. Campione d'Italia takes advantage of its status by operating a casino, the Casinò di Campione, which was declared bankrupt on 27 July 2018 and finally reopened its doors on 26 January 2022. The casino was designed by Swiss architect Mario Botta. The external finish in gilded stone slabs arranged in alternating bush-hammered and smooth bands acts as a link between the modern 21th century building and the old town center of Campione d'Italia.
