Ukraine. Province of Kiev. Slavutich. An old farming woman goes for a sleigh ride dragged by a horse on a snowy path. Her sled is loaded with straw. The town of Slavutich was created after the catastrophe which took place on April 1986 at 1.23 am with the explosion of reactor No 4 at Chernobyl atomic power station. Slavutich is distant 60 km from the power station and was newly built after the evacuation of the inhabitants from both towns of Pripyat and Chernobyl. © 2006 Didier Ruef
