Switzerland. Canton Ticino. Barbengo. «San Ambrogio» church. On a shelf, a silver crucifix with Jesus Christ on the cross, a silver monstrance and a traditional « solar » monstrance (golden). A monstrance, also known as an ostensorium (or an ostensory), is the vessel used in Roman Catholic for the more convenient exhibition of some object of piety, such as the consecrated Eucharistic host during Eucharistic adoration or Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament. On the wall, an angel with golden wings and a picture of Pope Francis. Pope Francis (Latin: Franciscus; Italian: Francesco; born Jorge Mario Bergoglio; 17 December 1936) is the 266th and current Pope of the Catholic Church and sovereign of Vatican City. Francis is the first Jesuit pope, the first from the Americas, the first from the Southern Hemisphere, and the first pope from outside Europe since the Syrian Gregory III, who reigned in the 8th century. An angel is generally a supernatural being found in various religions and mythologies. In Abrahamic religions, angels are often depicted as benevolent celestial beings who act as intermediaries between God or Heaven and Humanity. Barbengo is a quarter of the city of Lugano. 24.03.2018 © 2018 Didier Ruef
