Ghana. Northern Region. Mole National Park. Two male common warthogs stand close to the asphalt road which enters into the park and the main hotel. Phacochoerus is a genus in the family Suidae, commonly known as warthogs. They are pigs who live in open and semi-open habitats. The best-known and most widespread species, the common warthog (or simply warthog), is Phacochoerus africanus. Mole National Park is the country's largest wildlife refuge. The park is located in the Savannah region of Ghana on savanna and riparian ecosystems at an elevation of 50 m, with a sharp escarpment forming the southern boundary of the park. It covers an area of about 4,577 square kilometers of fairly undisturbed Guinea savannah in the northern part of Ghana.
