Kenya. Rift Valley province. Kasambara (20 km from Nakuru). A group of young black children from the Kikuyu tribe play with a loincloth while her mothers and relatives seat on the grass. They are all waiting for a food distribution, organised by the swiss non-governmental organization (NGO) running the Rhein-Valley hospital. The women and children are Internally displaced persons (IDPs), forced to flee their homes because of the inter-ethnic strife, but who, unlike refugees, remain within their country's borders. The Kikuyu are Kenya's most populous ethnic group. © 2008 Didier Ruef
