Rwanda. Southern province. District of Muhanga. Central jail of Gitarama. A group of black teenager boys and girls, wearing the pink prisoner's clothes. The black adolescent practises the traditional rwandese dance, Intore. The male dance, known as Intore in the Kinyarwanda language, were traditionally warriors. The great artistic merit of this dance lies in the fact that, at a given moment, the group, made up of some ten people, stamps the ground following the rhythm of the "commander". Blond colored hair made out fiber braids. Bricks wall. Minors block. Minors in detention. Detention pending trial and after trial, sentenced to prison. The non-governmental organization (NGO) Fondation DiDé - Dignité en détention runs the Encademi (Encadrement des mineurs) program. Prison centrale de Gitarama. Quartier des mineurs. © 2007 Didier Ruef
