Switzerland. Canton Ticino. Vaglio. A giant plastic elephant stands up in a trailer parked along the road. Elephants are mammals of the family Elephantidae and the largest existing land animals. Three species are currently recognised: the African bush elephant, the African forest elephant, and the Asian elephant. Elephantidae is the only surviving family of the order Proboscide. Vaglio is a village and former municipality. In 2001 the municipality was merged with the neighboring municipalities of Cagiallo, Lopagno, Roveredo, Sala Capriasca, and Tesserete to form a new municipality, Capriasca. 10.04.20 © 2020 Didier Ruef
