Mozambique. Province of Maputo. Manhiça is a small town (80 km north of the capital Maputo). A group of girls sing, clap their hands and rehearse their dance a day before the feast for the official opening of hospital. The town can only be reached by plane. Beacause of the war between the Government and the rebel of the Frelimo party, the roads are either mined or too dangerous to travel on. The airplane is ran by the non governmental organisation (ngo) Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) of Switzerland which has rehabilitated the local hospital. © 1992 Didier Ruef
