Switzerland. Canton Bern. Hofen. Wooden sculptures with various figures from swiss folklore and traditions. A swiss wrestler (R) with both hands up. The champion is a winning man who carries two kids (a girl with braided hair and a boy) seated on his shoulders. Schwingen (from German schwingen "to swing"), also known as Swiss wrestling (French lutte Suisse), is a style of folk wrestling native to Switzerland, more specifically the pre-alpine parts of German-speaking Switzerland. Wrestlers wear Schwingerhosen ("wrestling breeches") with belts that are used for taking holds. Throws and trips are common because the first person to pin his or her opponent's shoulders to the ground wins the bout. Schwingen is considered a "national sport" of Switzerland. A man with traditional costume blows the alphorn (CR), another works for the Swiss Federal Railways (CL), a young girl (L) takes care of calves in the farm. A calf is a young domestic cow. Calves are reared to become adult cattle or are slaughtered for their meat, called veal. Swiss Federal Railways (German: Schweizerische Bundesbahnen, SBB; French: Chemins de fer fédéraux suisses, CFF; Italian: Ferrovie federali svizzere, FFS) is the national railway company of Switzerland. It is usually referred to by the initials of its German, French, and Italian names, either as SBB CFF FFS, or used separately. Hofen is a village in the commune of Ursenbach in the Oberaargau administrative district. 10.11.2020 © 2020 Didier Ruef
