An elderly woman lying down on an emergency medical stretcher is being transported by a paramedics team to the hospital. The aged woman is suffering from a stroke. The emergency doctor Daniele Speciale (C) is with two paramedics. They all wear blue uniforms and work for the Croce Verde Lugano. The man (R) is a professional certified nurses, the bald man (L) is a volunteer specifically trained in emergency rescue. The volunteer carries in his left hand a monitor which controls a set of vital functions, such as electrocardiogram, blood pressure’s measurement, respiratory rate and pulse oximetry (oxygen saturation). An intravenous infusion with saline solution is fixed on the right patient’s arm .The Croce Verde Lugano is a private organization which ensure health safety by addressing different emergencies services and rescue services. Volunteering is generally considered an altruistic activity where an individual provides services for no financial or social gain to benefit another person, group or organization. Volunteering is also renowned for skill development and is often intended to promote goodness or to improve human quality of life.
