Jordan. Petra. The archeological site is part of the UNESCO world heritage project. The Nabataeans were an arabian industrious tribe which settled down in southern Jordan 2000 years ago. Petra is located at the bottom of a spectacular deep gorge surrounded by mountains. Bedouins women drink tea early morning. They all wear long dresses and a veil on their head as part of muslim tradition and religion. Their business is to sell ethnic jewels and antique stones to tourists. © 2002 Didier Ruef
