Switzerland. Canton Valais. St-Maurice. Africa Saints Pilgrimage (Pèlerinage aux Saints d'Afrique). Religious
ceremony in St-Maurice's abbey. African women and men gather for a catholic mass. They sing, dance and listen to music payed by drums and balafon instruments. The balafon (bala, balaphone) is a resonated frame, wooden keyed percussion idiophone of West Africa. The balafon is part of the idiophone family of tuned percussion instruments. Sound is produced by striking the tuned keys with two padded sticks. 2.06.13 © 2013 Didier Ruef
