Switzerland. Geneva. Town Center. A policeman on a bicycle. A groups of boys belonging to a fanfare gets ready to play in the streets on Music Day. A fanfare is a short musical flourish that is typically played by various brass instruments, often accompanied by percussion. A marching band is a group in which instrumental musicians perform while marching often for entertainment. The Fête de la Musique, also known in English as Music Day, Make Music Day or World Music Day, is an annual music celebration that takes place on 21 June ( but usually during the previous or following weekend). On Music Day the citizens of a city or country are allowed and urged to play music outside in their neighborhoods or in public spaces and parks. Free concerts are also organized, where musicians play for fun and not for payment. 22.06.1993 © 1993 Didier Ruef
