Switzerland. Geneva. Paquis police station. Four police officers check on a computer the identity of a man who was arrested. A policeman is using a scooter to move from one side to the other of the police station. Three policemen have a two-way radio which is a radio that can both transmit and receive (a transceiver). A two-way radio (transceiver) allows the operator to have a conversation with other similar radios operating on the same radio frequency (channel). Two-way radios are available with hand-held portable configurations. Hand-held radios are often called walkie-talkies or handie-talkies. A police station or station house is a building which serves police officers and contains offices, temporary holding cells and interview/interrogation rooms. 16.03.12 © 2012 Didier Ruef
