The African golden cat is a wild cat endemic to the rainforests of Central Africa. It is threatened due to bushmeat hunting and listed as Vulnerable on the IUCN Red List. Porcupines are large rodents with coats of sharp spines, or quills, that protect them against predation. Bushmeat is meat from wildlife species that are hunted for human consumption. Bushmeat represents a primary source of animal protein and a cash-earning commodity in poor and rural communities of humid tropical forest regions.
