Switzerland. Canton Bern. Langenthal. Langenthal Zoo (Tierpark Langenthal). The zoo with old trees in the dense, shady forest on the Hinterberg high above Langenthal has existed since 1891. It is a popular destination for families and animal lovers. The animals feel comfortable in the spacious enclosures and are kept in a species-appropriate manner. The red deer (Cervus elaphus) is one of the largest deer species. The red deer inhabits most of Europe. In many parts of the world, the meat (venison) from red deer is used as a food source. Red deer are the largest native species of deer. The males have very conspicuous antlers that are shed and newly formed every year.
