Armenia. Yerevan. Artsrun Hovhannisyan is the press speaker of the ministry of defense. He seats in his office and wears a military uniform. He explains with his arms wide open the Azerbaijani military drone IAI Harop attack on April 4th 2016 in the village of Talish, located in the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic. On the wall, a geographical map from Armenia and the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic, a frame with the emblem of the Armed Forces of Armenia and a brown old picture taken in 1941 of Artsrun Hovhannisyan's grandfather as a soldier in the Workers' and Peasants' Red Army, frequently shortened to Red Army. The IAI Harop is a loitering munition developed by the MBT division of Israel Aerospace Industries. The unmanned combat aerial vehicle is also known as the Harpy-2 loitering munitions missile. It is an anti-radiation drone that can autonomously home in on radio emissions. Rather than holding a separate high-explosive warhead, the drone itself is the main munition. This SEAD-optimised loitering munition is designed to loiter the battlefield and attack targets by self-destructing into them. The drone can either operate fully autonomously, using its anti-radar homing system, or it can take a human-in-the-loop mode. If a target is not engaged, the drone will return and land itself back at base. Talish is a village in the Martakert Region of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (de facto), and the Tartar Rayon of Azerbaijan (de jure). It has been under Armenian control since the 1994 ceasefire. Nagorno-Karabakh is a disputed territory, internationally recognized as part of Azerbaijan, but most of the region is governed by the Republic of Artsakh (formerly named Nagorno-Karabakh Republic), a de facto independent state with Armenian ethnic population. Yerevan, sometimes spelled Erevan, is the capital and largest city of Armenia. 1.10.2019 © 2019 Didier Ruef
