Switzerland. Canton Ticino. Capolago. Alberto Bianchi is a beekeeper and an organic farmer (with the label Bio Suisse). He is making honey by using a honey extractor. Bees cover the filled in cells of the honeycombs with wax cap that must be removed before centrifugation. A honey extractor extracts the honey from the honeycombs without destroying the comb. Extractors work by centrifugal force. A beekeeper (or apiarist) keeps bees in order to collect honey and other products of the hive (including beeswax, propolis, pollen, and royal jelly). 5.06.12 © 2012 Didier Ruef
