Kazakhstan. Tastubek. Fishermen on a rowing boat in the Aral sea. Kadyrbai Ibragimov (L) wears a military jacket and holds in his hands a sturgeon fish while his friend Zhasan Kenzhembayev( R) seats on the ship's bow and holds the net. Due to an an ambitious undertaking through dams construction which aims to reverse one of the world's man-made environmental disaster and bring back the sea, the water is returning to the Kazakh Aral sea (small Aral). The men can fish today where a year ago the dried up (dry bed) Aral Sea was a dry landscape due to overuse of water resources started at the time of former Soviet Union. Tastubek is located in the Kyzyl Orda Province. © 2008 Didier Ruef ..
