Ukraine. Province of Kiev. Slavutich. Open air market. Two old women sell their products in the food market. They both stand in the cold weather and the snow falls on their clothes. The town of Slavutich was created after the catastrophe which took place on April 1986 at 1.23 am with the explosion of reactor No 4 at Chernobyl atomic power station. Slavutich is distant 60 km from the power station and was newly built after the evacuation of the inhabitants from both towns of Pripyat and Chernobyl. © 2006 Didier Ruef
