Switzerland. Canton Fribourg. Morat ( Murten in german). The historical shooting of Morat is a living tradition which has taken place every year since 1930, in the form of a day of shooting in memory of the Battle of Murten in 1476, at the place known as Bois-Domingue, an eminence near Murten, where Charles le Téméraire's camp had been set up, at the centre of its military apparatus. Participant (a man) belonging to shooting companies lies down on the grass in the Bois-Domingue close to his semi-automatic assault rifles SG 550. A feather is placed in the viewfinder. The SG 550 is an assault rifle manufactured by Swiss Arms AG (formerly Schweizerische Industrie Gesellschaft) of Neuhausen, Switzerland. "SG" is an abbreviation for Sturmgewehr, or "assault rifle". The rifle is based on the earlier 5.56mm SG 540 and is also known as the Fass 90 or Stgw 90. An assault rifle is a selective-fire rifle that uses an intermediate cartridge and a detachable magazine. 24.06.2018 © 2018 Didier Ruef
