China. Shanghai. Downtown. City center. Late afternoon, chinese people are relaxing and enjoying the view on Pudong and the river. Pudong skyline seen from "The Bund". Over 1 and 1/2 times larger than urban Shanghai itself, the Pudong new area consists of the entire eastern bank of the Huangpu river. Pudong is the new area of development where the growing business needs constantly new modern high buildings, real "skyscrapers". Pudong has become Shanghai and China's economic powerhouse. The Bund is the most impressive 2 km in Shanghai. © 2002 Didier Ruef
