Switzerland. Canton Ticino. Lugano. The San Grato Botanical Park. From the park, a view on the village of Carona and the city of Lugano, Lake Lugano (also called lake Ceresio), and the following mountains, Monte San Salvatore (L), the swiss Alps (C), Monte Bré and Monte Boglia (R). The San Grato Botanical Park is located in the village of Carona, approximately 10 km from Lugano and extends to 690 m S/m, with an exceptional panorama across the immediate surroundings over the peaks of the alpine chain. The entire park with its 62'000 square metres, hosts the largest and most varied collection of azaleas, rhododendrons and conifers in the whole Insubric Region. During the months of April and May the azaleas and rhododendrons form a highly coloured and perfumed carpet. 16.05.2015 © 2015 Didier Ruef
