Eritrea. Southern Debud Zone.Maiado. Small village in the country. A.C.O.R.D. (Agency for Cooperation and Research in Development )is an international NGO (non government organisation) which works mostly in Africa. It receives funds from Heks (Inter Church Aid) of Switzerland. A.C.O.R.D. runs a small credit program in the village. The Awet village bank is owned and ran by the people of the village who are members of the small credit project. Awet means victory in tigrinian language (one of the languages spoken in Eritrea). A worker build the new retail shop which will be run by the small credit programm. © 2002 Didier Ruef
