Kenya. Rift Valley province. Kasambara (20 km from Nakuru). Four black men from the Kikuyu tribe wait for a food distribution, organised by the swiss non-governmental organization (NGO) running the Rhein-Valley hospital. The men are all IDPs. From left to right: Mjoroge Mgure from Molo, Moses Marina Kaiman from Eldama Ravine, Paul Kimani Wainana from Kisumu, James Wustitu Karanja from Kasabara. Internally displaced persons (IDPs), people forced to flee their homes because of the inter-ethnic strife, but who, unlike refugees, remain within their country's borders. The Kikuyu are Kenya's most populous ethnic group. © 2008 Didier Ruef
