Italy. Region Veneto. Venice.  The artist Giuseppe Veneziano exhibits paintings from Fidel Castro (L) and Mao Zedong (R) at the Contini gallery during the 54th International Art Biennale. Veneziano's controversial paintings and art portray pop culture icons and historical figures. Fidel Alejandro Castro Ruz (born August 13, 1926) is a Cuban revolutionary and politician, having held the position of Prime Minister of Cuba from 1959 to 1976, and then President from 1976 to 2008. He also served as the First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba from the party's foundation in 1961 until 2011. Mao Zedong, also transliterated as Mao Tse-tung and commonly referred to as Chairman Mao (December 26, 1893 – September 9, 1976), was a Chinese Communist revolutionary, guerrilla warfare strategist, Marxist political philosopher, and leader of the Chinese Revolution. He was the architect and founding father of the People's Republic of China (PRC) from its establishment in 1949, and held control over the nation until his death in 1976.  4.10.2011 © 2011 Didier Ruef .
