Vietnam. Ha Tay province. Lai Xa. The open-air and uncontrolled rubbish dump shows the failure in the solid-waste management project of Lai Xa, as a decentralized sanitation implementation. A pig (plastic toy for children) and a woman's shoe are on the tip (garbage heap). Lai Xa is a typical hamlet (village) of the Red River delta region and is part of the Kim Chung commune located 15 km west of Hanoi.
