Switzerland. Canton Ticino. Comano. Paramedics team take care of an injured man during an emergency medical intervention. The man was cutting branches off a tree, fell on the ground and broke his right leg. He will be brought to hospital for medical surgery and recovery. Two paramedics wear blue uniforms and work for the Croce Verde Lugano. The man (L) is a professional certified nurse, the woman (R) is a volunteer specifically trained in emergency rescue. The Croce Verde Lugano is a private organization which ensure health safety by addressing different emergencies services and rescue services. Volunteering is generally considered an altruistic activity where an individual provides services for no financial or social gain to benefit another person, group or organization.
